The first meeting in 2012 will be on a different night to usual and in fact will be on Friday 17th February.
Martin Fingland from Geckos Wildlife Presentations will bring to us a fascinating display of live native animals combined with an informative talk on our unique and wonderful Australian wildlife and the value they bring to our lives. This presentation will allow you to get up close giving you the opportunity to see and touch.
Come along and join the fun. Both children and older folk will be enchanted. Do not miss this rare opportunity.

The Cicada Award
A Wildlife film and animation excellence award
1st prize $1,000.00
2nd prize $500.00

Open to all students in Primary and High School who live and/or attend school in the Redlands.
Why the Cicada? World eminent ecologist E.O.Wilson said, it is the small things that run the world - they are noisy and beautiful so they will help bring attention to our wildlife.
Entries closed on 31st August 2011 and the results are;
The judges awarded 17-year-old Alexandra Hills State High School students Tatjana Trotter and Paris
Ormerod the best film with their production on Redland mangroves.
Second prize went to Bay View State School students Ronin Bell-Brooks, Anastacia-Sky Celona-March and
Mitchel King for their innovative animation about how to make backyards safe for koalas.
Third prize was shared between Olivia O'Connor and Alessia Napolitano from Bay View State School and Lexy
and Leah Lever from St Rita's Catholic Primary School.

Help the Mangrove Watch survey team to monitor the mangroves of Moreton Bay. Wildlife Queensland's monitoring project is collecting valuable data on mangrove health.
If you like mud and would be able to spend a couple of hours contributing to the health of Queensland's coastline and marine environments, we want to hear from you.

Wear Enclosed footwear, old clothes ( you could get muddy)
Bring Water, mosquito repellent, hat and sunscreen.
