ProjectsThe Bayside Branch of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland is, at any particular time, involved in a number of projects in and around Moreton Bay. These range from involvement in court cases over development proposals, to surveys such as Seagrass Watch. Seagrass Watch Seagrass Watch aims are to raise awareness on the condition and trend of near shore seagrasses throughout Queensland and provide an early warning of major changes in seagrass abundance, distribution and species composition. Dugong Watch The Dugong is listed as Vulnerable under the Queensland Nature Conservation Act, this and the ongoing unsustainable losses being incurred by this species spurred the Wildlife Preservation Society of Qld, Bayside Branch into action. Curlews Bayside Branch is seeking interested members of the community to help survey the Curlews in the Bayside area, both on the islands and the main land. We need as many people as possible to gather and record the information in order to ensure a reasonable coverage. Echidna Watch Members have suggested that action is required to cheek the location and status of Echidnas in Queensland. In response, the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland has set up an Echidna Watch program to identify, to start with, Echidnas found in South East Queensland. Sea Eagle The newsletter on behalf of the Community and Conservation sectors for the South-east Queensland Coastal Management Plan. Glossy Black Cockatoos These beautiful parrots have become a rare sight in Redland Shire mainly due to the destruction of their habitat through land clearance and bushfires. WPSQ Bayside is committed to ensuring the future of these unique birds. Have you seen any Glossy Black Cockatoos in your area?
