STALL AT RATHDOWNEY HERITAGE FESTIVAL

stall at Rathdowney Heritage Festival

Several thousand visitors turned up in the usually-quiet little town of Rathdowney on Easter Sunday for the Rathdowney Heritage Festival, which this time also marked the 100th anniversary of the town. Rain and wind threatened the displays at the beginning. The sun came out but we had to leap around several times catching paper items and we gave, up on keeping our "Scenic Rim Wildlife" title on the gazebo after several strong gusts, and transfer it to the vehicle. Next time we hope to have a more robust and readily-attachable banner. A stream of youngsters enjoyed riding the "rockaroo" and patting the echidna and quoll ornaments, and various folk stopped for a chat about wildlife (especially snakes) they'd seen, the loss of wildlife habitat over the decades and other topics. Many took fliers for the Great Wildlife Discovery Challenge, so we hope that many will be taking up the challenge and learning more about our local wildlife while doing so.
